Snell majestic again for Mymms 16/06/2012 On a truly miserable, most un-cricket like weather North Mymms travelled to Radlett. Radlett won the toss and invited North Mymms to bat on a green damp wicket.
Their decision seemed to pay off when Mymms lost openers Rhys Wynne (2) in the first over leg before to Shane Burger and Dominic Chatfield (7) caught McLean off Burger's bowling.
Steve Snell came to the wicket and began to master the bowling, racking up an impresive 108 before he he was bowled by Crocker, the score moving along to 140.
Andy Lewis (25) and Nesan Jeyaratnam (23) brought stability to the innings before Lewis was bowled by ex-Mymms player, Rob Clements.
Neil Bamford joined Jeyaratnam in the middle and did not waste any time setting about the Radlett bowling, ending with 56 not out. He was supported by keeper Andy Parker (13 n.o.) with the result that Mymms got to a score of 267 for 6 off the rain reduced overs of 59.
Radlett took to the wicket and were soon in trouble at 18 for 2. McLean and Burger began to bring respectability to Radlett's score line. When Burger (23) and McLean (49) were back in the pavilion, Mymms felt they had victory in their grasp.
Radlett keeper, Jenkins, tried to consolidate their innings before he was bowled for 41 by Daniel Beretov.
At 175 for 9, Radlett were in trouble. A Mymms victory almost seemed assured.
Radlett's tail-enders of Corran and Cohen had other ideas and successfully stone-walled the remaining overs, frustrating the Mymms bowlers.
The result leaves Mymms at the top of the HCPL Div 2 East table, and look forward to welcoming West Herts to Home Farm on Saturday. |
