Cross beat rain to record first win of the season 16/06/2012 Falkland 123 (58.4 overs)
Gerrards Cross 124-5 (38.3 overs)
Gerrards Cross won by 5 wickets
Gerrards Cross finally recorded their first league win of the season with a five-wicket win at home to Falkland.
After choosing to bowl in seamer-friendly conditions, the Cross were made to work hard for their wickets as Falkland reached 69-2 after 28 overs.
In the conditions, 150 was probably a par score. But the Cross bowlers gave nothing away and, on 99-8, Falkland were struggling to reach the par score. The Falkland tail wagged for almost twelve overs, but only managed to score another 24 runs and were all out for 123.
The pick of the bowlers were Paul Muchall (4-19 off 16.4 overs) and Dan Hampton (1-14 off 11 overs).
The Cross reply started reasonably well, given the conditions, reaching 22 without loss after ten overs. Paul Muchall kept the Cross on course for victory with a solid 36 off 40 balls, before rain brought a halt to the proceedings.
The players were back on after fifteen minutes and Ban Harris (30* off 24 balls) finished the game in a hurry before any more rain intervened. |
