Mymms Maul West Herts

23/06/2012

The score book will show that North Mymms needed 15 overs and 48 minutes to crush West Herts.

Mymms skipper, Nesan Jeyaratnam, won the toss and invited West Herts to bat. Usman Arif and Dan Beretov opened Mymms bowling aggresively. The first wicket falling to Arif with the West Herts score on 8.

The opening bowling pair were well supported by Jigar Mehta and Ryss Wynne as they all ripped through the West Herts batting. After 33 overs West Herts were all out for 116. The best Mymms bowler was Beretov, returning 5 for 41 off 12.2 overs. Mehta and Wynne each claimed 2 scalps with Arif taking the last. The only resistance from West Herts came from Mehtab Jabbar who opened the batting and was still there at the end on an undefeated 61 runs off 96 balls. Only three West Herts batsment made double figures.

With darkened clouds gathering and the threat of rain, Mymms decided to change the opening pair to chase the target before the heavens opened.

Steve Snell joined regular opener Rhys Wynne and between them made very light work of the West Herts bowling.

15 overs later, it was all over. Wynne not out on 35 and Snell not out on 83 off only 48 balls, a strike rate of 173, sealed victory for Mymms.
